Dr. Andrew Mayo serves as the Chief Medical Officer for St. Croix Hospice. He joined St. Croix Hospice in 2012 and became Chief Medical Officer in 2014. Dr. Mayo focuses his time on collaborating with clinical colleagues, patients and caregivers, and outside healthcare partners to ensure patients receive high-quality, medically advanced, compassionate end-of-life care that meets their needs and wishes.

A native of Minnesota, Dr. Mayo was inspired to pursue a career in medicine by his family’s long history of dedication to community healthcare and innovation. After completing his family practice residency at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota, Dr. Mayo spent 17 years practicing in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, as a family medicine physician, providing full-spectrum care in emergency medicine, inpatient hospital, outpatient clinic and obstetrics settings.

Dr. Mayo has served on clinical and hospital leadership boards, and as Medical Director for several nursing homes. In 2023, he was recognized as one of Becker’s Hospital Review’s “110 CMOs to Know.”

Dr. Mayo received his undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, and went on to study medicine at the University of Minnesota – Duluth. He continues to pursue additional medical training and holds Hospice Medical Director Certification.
