FAQ

The Voyage Vigil Program® is a service designed to provide increased caregiver support for patients nearing the end of life. It focuses on ensuring comfort and presence during a patient’s final days. The program emphasizes compassionate care for both patients and their families. It aims to create a supportive and peaceful environment.

The program is initiated when a patient’s clinical team observes a significant decline in their condition. At that point, the team offers the program to the patient’s family. Caregivers then begin providing additional support based on the patient’s needs. The timing is centered around the final stage of life.

The program stands out by increasing bedside caregiver presence during the final stage of end-of-life care. It also focuses on creating a calm and personalized environment, such as reducing noise and adjusting lighting. Additionally, it supports the emotional needs of loved ones. Care is tailored to each patient’s wishes.

The Voyage Vigil team may include registered nurses, hospice aides, social workers and chaplains. Each member plays a role in providing medical, emotional and spiritual support. The team works together to care for both the patient and their loved ones. Their goal is to ensure comfort and dignity.

The program recognizes that families have different needs during end-of-life care. Some may need time alone with the patient, while others may need a break. Caregivers provide flexibility and emotional support. This helps families cope during a difficult time.
