Wish Granted for Longtime Equestrian Receiving Hospice Care

The St. Croix Hospice team is honored to walk alongside patients and families during some of life’s most meaningful moments. We partnered with Fall Creek Retirement, Needlers of Pendleton and RM Elite Equine to help fulfill a final wish for resident Beth Yost.

Beth was an equestrian for many years and cared for several horses throughout her life. She often shared stories about her three favorites — Smokey, Danny Boy and Ginger. As her health declined, Beth expressed her yearning to spend time with a horse again.

So, the team came together to organize a special visit from Tuffy, a 16‑year‑old bay American Quarter Horse mare known for her experience in 4H events, trail riding and versatility riding. Tuffy now teaches beginner and intermediate riders and will help lead summer horse camps at RM Elite Equine in Pendleton.

Beth was able to feed and brush Tuffy, and the two shared touching moments that brought comfort and joy. Family and friends gathered to witness this heartwarming experience and celebrate Beth’s lifelong love of horses.

At St. Croix Hospice, it’s our privilege to help honor final wishes and create meaningful memories for those we serve.
