Donna’s Final Harley Ride

Like so many before her, Donna Logan’s journey with St. Croix Hospice began as her health showed signs of decline and her care team recognized she was entering the final chapter of life. But Donna was searching for more than hospice care — she was longing for connection. For seven years, Donna lived without a home, without family and without the simple kindness most of us take for granted. When she came on service at the St. Croix Hospice branch in Clarinda, Iowa, everything changed — not just for her, but for all who have the privilege of caring for her.

Now residing at Tabor Manor in Tabor, Iowa, Donna has no biological family to lean on, but she says she now considers St. Croix Hospice her family. One day, Donna shared her bucket list with her St. Croix Hospice care team, and it had just three items, including one that particularly stood out: a final ride on a Harley. It was a dream that may have felt out of reach for Donna until her care team stepped in.

St. Croix Hospice Registered Nurse Amber Braymen and Hospice Aide Tara Edie helped make Donna’s wish come true. With the support of Danny Edie and Bullfrog Handlebar Jockeys MC Council Bluffs IA (the biker Donna rode with), they organized a scenic motorcycle ride from Tabor through Randolph to Shenandoah and back again.

This wasn’t just a ride for Donna — it was a moment of dignity, belonging and love.
