Hospice Care in Hiawatha, IA

I have experienced the quality of care through St Croix Hospice twice. My father, Dr Kenneth Leroy Hebron & my dear husband Dr F Jeffrey WESTERCAMP both experienced the love & compassion of team members on staff associated with the following locations 🙁 Altoona branch & Cedar Rapids branch).
Because of the care I observed with my father I was thrilled to have the opportunity to use St Croix again with my husband.
St Croix assisted my father in a care facility. However, for my husband, his care was provided in my home ( for years, on & off) till his final hours. In my home it was unique as they worked with both the live in caregiver as well as the team members from a local agency ( Brightstar) who provided respite hours for my live in caregiver. It was essentially like running a business in my home, and I was thoroughly pleased with St Croix’s ability to work with us all! I thoroughly appreciated that they sent the same St Croix staff to my home who became familiar with Jeff on a personal basis, so helpful in enabling Jeff to feel at ease in his home which meant everything to me♥️
What sticks out the most are the special caregivers who helped to start Jeff’s days with his bathing cares, St Croix’s trust in the caregivers here taking care of Jeff, the hospice nurses, a social worker who kept tabs on me to make sure I was comfortable with the dynamics at hand and a very special honorable mention of the two music therapists I worked with!!!! They learned select love songs to sing for Jeff & myself and they both took part in Jeff’s funeral service. One music therapist was so connected to the situation here in our home, his timing in sending me a email happened to be in Jeff’s final hours & it had a unique and personal expression and purpose!! It was incredible! I still cry when I think about it.
I will close with mention of how, with both my father and my husband in their final hours, a nurse mentioned that I might want to climb in bed with our loved one, which I honestly may not have thought of at the time, had they not brought it to my attention….I am so incredibly happy that they did; with my husband I had some strongly endearing moments with him I will never forget and will hold onto till my own personal last breath here in this lifetime.

St. Croix Hospice in Cedar Rapids has been WONDERFUL with the care and compassion they have shown my mother. I truly believe she is getting the care and attention she deserves. It is so nice to see their team members go above and beyond their roles. I would highly recommend anyone utilize their services if needed.

They only had my dad for about 15 hours because he hated the care center he was at but the nurse and social worker was right with him!! Case work was exceptional!!!!! Thanks
